Meditation Path
Meditation offers us the opportunity to
know ourselves more intimately by bringing our focus inward. For many of us, it
is the path toward hearing our thoughts more clearly as we intentionally set
aside our daily life and journey into our wise soul self. While in meditation we
are creating a safe environment in which to closely examine our thoughts,
behavior and fears, and come to an understanding of the role they play in our
life. Truthfully and objectively we can examine various issues in our life,
without reacting and without judging. From within this perspective we can learn
from, and make peace with, the past, safely confront our fears, and continue the
process of building self-trust. You are invited to explore your inner self with
the following featured meditation. You are also welcome to join Tina Faigen's group meditation session in the SpiritTalk Chat Room.
Before you begin the meditation, find a comfortable sitting position
in your chair, put both feet on the floor, and allow your arms and hands to rest
in a comfortable place. You will need to scroll down the page as you meditate, so keep one hand resting near
your keyboard to facilitate this with ease. At any point during the meditation it is fine to shift your
position to a more comfortable one.

"Glowing"
by Tina Faigen
Begin by focusing on your breath. Slowly
inhale, feeling the air fill your lower stomach. And slowly exhale, releasing
the air gently. Allow each breath to be slower than the previous breath.
As you slow your breathing, relax the
muscles in your face. Relax your temples, your eyebrows, and your jaw. Relax the
area around your ears. And relax your neck. Relax your shoulders and upper back.
Continue breathing slowly while you relax your entire body, from top to bottom.
Become aware of tension and then release that tension until
you have reached your feet and they, too, become relaxed.
Mentally scan your body, looking for any
pockets of tension that you did not notice as you worked your way downward, and
allow those pockets of tension to be released too.
As you continue to breathe slowly and
calmly, imagine that there is a white pitcher above your head. It is an
exceptionally beautiful pitcher, made of ivory, with intricate patterns carved
into it. This pitcher is filled with bright, white light--even whiter than the
pitcher is itself.
Watch as the pitcher tilts and you are
showered with the bright, white light. The light pours over your body, covering
you completely. The light pours into your body through the top of your head and
it fills the inside of your body completely. Every crevice of your body, inside
and out, is filled with the bright, white light.
Although the pitcher does not look like it
can be bottomless, in fact it is bottomless. More and more light is pouring into
you and you are brimming with bright, white light. The light showering the
outside of your body covers you, adding inch upon after inch to the cocoon of
light surrounding you.
Continue absorbing more and more light
until you feel completely filled inside, and until you have a bubble of light
spanning 3 feet around your body. All the way around, even including the chair
you are sitting in. Your feet are on a thick pillow of light. You can stretch
your arms out to each side and you are still surrounded by this bright, white
light.
The cocoon is big. It is strong,
protective, healthy, wise and vibrant with life. And it is now yours. It is now
you. This is your energy now. It is your light. It cannot be taken away without
your permission. You are strong, protective, healthy, wise and vibrant with
life.
When you go forth from today, during
moments when you feel timid, remember your bright, white light. When you feel
vulnerable, remember your bright, white light. When you feel ill, remember your
bright, white light. When you forget what you know, remember your bright, white
light. When you forget why you are here, remember your bright, white light.
You are a radiant being of tremendous
value. You offer a unique perspective and therefore our world is enhanced by
your presence. Feel yourself basking in your light. What you are feeling is you.
You radiate well beyond the skin that covers your body. You can radiate as far
as you desire.
Each day when you arise, become aware of
your bright, white light and how far it reaches. Shower yourself with more and
more light until you are glowing as you walk down the street. Glow when you go
to work. Glow when you go to the grocery store. Glow when you sit with your
family. Radiate your warmth so that it reaches out, connecting with the light of
others. The farther yours reaches, the sooner you will connect. Open to this
connection for it will strengthen your own light. You are a radiant being.
As you continue basking in your glow,
listen to the message offered to you by spirit guide Rashid:
"Look upon the flower and see how it
unfolds. This is you, my child, forming petals and leaves. Your roots must be
grounded to come full blossom, yet with care and tending your petals form one by
one until you are a magnificent flower to behold. Shining, colorful, individual.
"A lasting bloom weathers the
rainstorm. Even the crocus will stand tall in the spring snow. Each of you is a
flower, yet unlike any other flower. For a prosperous garden, all must be
present. And none go unnoticed by the trained eye. We watch you with trained
eye, offering food and water, yet the strongest of flower tends itself between
visits with the gardener.
"The garden is, indeed, magnificent.
Take your rightful place amongst the other flowers and understand the unique
addition you are. A lone flower is beautiful, yet a garden is a wondrous place,
for each flower contributes to the beauty of all." ...Rashid
It is now time to return your focus to your
surroundings. Gently shift your position and slowly move your arms
and legs while continuing to breathe slowly and calmly.
Along with your sense of peacefulness, your body and
spirit are feeling relaxed, refreshed, and energized.
Take all the time you wish before gently returning to
your daily activities.
